Textual analysis of Boyd v. United States (1886) Searches and Seizures

The Purpose:

Students are to write a 4-5 page paper in Times New Roman 12-point font with 1-inch margins. Pick ONE court case decided by 1900.  Explain, in great detail, the majority opinion. Follow and elaborate upon its argument.


The Structure:

Paragraph 1: Introduction State clearly your thesis. (E.g., In McColluch, Chief Justice Marshall interprets the Necessary and Proper Clause to expand the power of the government.)


Paragraph 2: Historical Background


Paragraph 3-as many paragraphs as you need: Elaboration of the Majority Opinion.


Last Paragraph: Conclusion Address two questions: Why does this case still matter? Do you agree with the Courts decision and judgment?
